Safety strategy adopted by the Venezuelan government now has a new tool: the disarmament law endorsed by the National Assembly.
The legislation received unanimous approval of its 126 articles by Parliament in second reading, after which only remains third definitive and final reading on 11 June.
According to legislative sources, this regulation represents an effective element to reduce uncertainty, to contribute to the removal of weapons from the streets.
It also integrates the measures taken by the authorities to ensure the tranquility of the population, the include the Movement for Peace and Life and the Great Mission To All Life Venezuela.
Both initiatives are beyond the confrontation of crime, as contemplated actions aimed at the causes of violence to remove them from the root.
The law for Disarmament and Arms and Ammunition Control provides, among other things, penalties from seven to 20 years in prison for having a gun illegally.
It also regulates use by the police, military and private providers of security and terms of employment of the same sport.
Also set the marking of ammunition to be used legally in the country, in order to have a strict control of them.
Added to this, it provides for the suspension of the marketing of firearms and ammunition in the country in a span of two years, for the purposes of hunting and sporting use.
