empoderando víctimas

«We hope this project contribute to the full enjoyment of the rights of victims of armed violence, in particular provide information on access to justice,» said Maria Pia Devoto, Sehlac Network Coordinator.

Moreover, «in some countries actually the victim of armed violence as a specific subject, urges us to think public policies that lead to the real and effective recognition of their rights.» Said Daniela Portino Author of document

Victims of armed violence introduced the question about the fate of themselves and their families after the episode suffered. This project attempts to observe the conduct of the State to their respect before and after they acquire their status of «victim».

Those are some of the reasons that give rise to the project «Empowering Victims. Access to Justice» that explores the concepts of victim of armed violence and access to justice in a broad sense and also assesses state responses provided in the cities Buenos Aires and San Salvador.

It was based on a number of case studies of armed violence victims and explored the path characteristics that they run from the incident of victimization until the responses from justice and assistance institutions were implemented.

Finally, at the end of the analysis, it is presented recommendations to reinforce or incorporate public policies to ensure awareness and understanding of the right of victims to access justice.
