SEHLAC at Maputo Review Conference – Antipersonnel Mines
The Maputo Review Conference is a formal diplomatic meeting of the 161 States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
The representatives of the countries there called for effective implementation of the Convention. The members of the Human Security Network for Latin America and the Caribbean (SEHLAC), Maria Pia Devoto (APP) and Alvaro Jimenez (CCCM), participated as representatives of civil society in the region. In relation to the representations of the countries were present: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico and Venezuela.
At the Conference, the various topics covered by the Convention, (the universalization, stockpile destruction, cleaning, assistance to victims). And in the high-level segment, the countries signed the Maputo Political Declaration and the Action Plan was adopted addressed, (continued commitments Cartagena Action Plan).
