SEHLAC organises meeting on implementation and universalisation of cluster bomb ban during 3MSP in Oslo
On Wednesday 12 September, the Government of Guatemala and CMC Latin America (SEHLAC) organized a round table discussion for delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean to the Third Meeting of States Parties (3MSP) to the Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM). They discussed the implementation of national laws and the universalization of the Convention.
The majority of the region’s governments and activists participating in the 3MSP were present. The Government of Guatemala made a presention on its recent law on cluster munitions, which was welcomed as an example to follow by those present. Chile’s representatives, meanwhile, announced the holding of a regional seminar to promote the creation of a ‘Cluster Munition Free Zone” in participation with the Government of Zambia, host of the next meeting of member states.
Finally, the governments present gave thanks to and highlighted the work of civil society in the CCM process and the humanitarian field.
